❓Frequently Asked Questions

🎓Do I need to sit an exam?

No. SVQs are assessed through workplace evidence and discussions.

💼Can I complete my SVQ while working full-time?

Yes. SVQs are specifically designed to fit around your job.

📅How often will I meet my assessor?

This varies, we encourage fortnightly meetings with your assessor to plan and support you throughout your SVQ journey. Many support meetings can also be carried out remotely using Microsoft Teams.

👀Will my assessor visit my workplace?

Where appropriate, direct observations can take place in your workplace, they may also be carried remotely via teams.

🔄What happens if I change employer?

Speak to your assessor as soon as possible. In many cases, arrangements can be made to continue your qualification. Also remember to update the SSSC with your new employers details.

⏳How long does an SVQ take to complete?

Most candidates complete their SVQ within 9–12 months, although this can vary depending on your experience, job role and how regularly you submit evidence.

🤝What support will I receive?

You'll be allocated a dedicated assessor who will guide you throughout your qualification. They'll help you plan your evidence, answer any questions and provide regular feedback to keep you on track.

📂What evidence can I use?

Evidence may include workplace observations, reflective accounts, professional discussions, witness testimonies and relevant workplace documents (products). Your assessor will explain what evidence is appropriate for your qualification.

🌍What if English isn't my first language?

Many of our candidates speak English as a second language. We will support you throughout your qualification and encourage you to complete your work in your own words. Your assessor is looking for your knowledge and competence, not perfect grammar.

🤖Can I use AI to complete my SVQ?

AI can be useful for generating ideas or helping you understand a topic, but all evidence submitted for your SVQ must be your own work and accurately reflect your knowledge, skills and experience.
